Since wildland fires grow quickly, the first few minutes of discovery can be critical. If a homeowner can quickly flow an adequate
amount of water to the threat, he/she may be able to extinguish the fire before it becomes unmanageable.  Unfortunately, garden
hoses (green lines) attached with normal household water supply don’t flow enough water to control wildfires.

Lets say you have a pool (or pond), you have all the basic ingredients that are needed to control a fire before it can grow to a size to
threaten your home.  With a pool, by definition you already have…..

  • A Fire Pump— a typical pool pump has a 11/2—2 Hp pump motor, enabling the system to build adequate pressure to support
    an 11/2” diameter fire hose.

  • A Water Supply—most residential pools contain between 12,000 and 30,000 gallons of water. To put this into perspective, a
    large water tender used by the United States Forest Service commonly contains 1500 to 3000 gallons.  
    So you have the equivalent of eight to ten water tenders
                                       already on the scene.

All that's needed is the proper plumbing fixtures, a fire hose and a fire nozzle to equip a homeowner with the ability to
suppress/extinguish a moderate-sized fire until our professionals and/or volunteers can arrive.
